Medvedev: State Duma to mull retirement age hike bill on Thu
GORKI, Moscow Region, Jul 17 (PRIME) -- The State Duma, the Russian parliament’s lower house, will consider a bill on changes to the pension legislation in the first reading on Thursday, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Tuesday at a meeting with the leadership of the Federation Council, the parliament’s upper house.
“Not long ago you discussed a bill on changes to the pension legislation at a meeting of the committee on social policy. Very soon, on Thursday, the bill will be considered by the State Duma in the first reading. The government’s position is clear. I ask you to join the discussion as well, especially as the issue is not very simple. Such discussions are necessary. I expect that the Federation Council will take part in it in the future as well,” Medvedev said.
The government earlier submitted to the State Duma a bill raising the retirement age to 65 years from 60 years for men and to 63 years from 55 years for women gradually.
